Ink-Treader has the weakest ritual package among four-color decks because it's missing the entire Dark Ritual lineage. No Dark Ritual, no Cabal Ritual, no Songs of the Damned, no Culling the Weak - black is the original ritual color, and WURG simply doesn't have it. What Ink-Treader does have is red's burst mana and green's land-untap effects, supplemented by blue spell-copying and enchantment-based mana doubling that can rival traditional rituals in the right shell.
Red Rituals and Green Land-Untap
- Seething Song, Desperate Ritual, and Pyretic Ritual form the core burst package - red's ritual suite is smaller than black's but still generates meaningful temporary mana
- Early Harvest and Turnabout untap all your lands, functioning as rituals that scale with your board state rather than producing flat amounts
- Rude Awakening doubles as a ritual (untap all lands) and a finisher (animate lands as 2/2s), giving WURG flexibility black ritual decks lack
- Mana Geyser taps for mana equal to opponents' tapped lands - in a four-player Commander game this routinely produces eight to fifteen mana

Compensating for No Black Rituals

- Blue spell-copying (Fork, Reverberate, Narset's Reversal) can double any ritual you do cast, partially offsetting the smaller ritual pool
- Thousand-Year Storm and Storm-Kiln Artist reward chaining the few rituals you have, making each one more impactful than in isolation
- Without black's graveyard rituals (Yawgmoth's Will, Past in Flames replaying Dark Ritual), Ink-Treader relies on resolving fewer but larger burst turns
- Consider enchantress packages - Sanctum Weaver and Serra's Sanctum produce ritual-level mana in enchantment-heavy WURG builds without needing ritual spells at all
