Grixis Mana Rituals (Burst Mana Effects)

Find Grixis (blue-black-red) mana rituals and burst mana effects for Commander. Explore one-time mana acceleration for UBR decks.

Grixis is the undisputed king of mana rituals in Commander. Black contributes Dark Ritual, Cabal Ritual, and Songs of the Damned. Red adds Seething Song, Desperate Ritual, and Pyretic Ritual. Blue copies them all with Narset's Reversal, Fork variants, and Thousand-Year Storm. No other three-color combination has access to both black and red ritual lineages plus blue's spell-doubling - Grixis storm turns are built on this foundation.

    The Best Ritual Colors Combined

    • Dark Ritual into Seething Song on turn one produces five mana total - enough to deploy a Grixis commander or an early Wheel of Fortune
    • Cabal Ritual with threshold adds five black mana for two, and Grixis's fetchlands plus Entomb enable threshold before turn four reliably
    • Mana Geyser counts all tapped lands opponents control - in a four-player game this routinely generates ten or more red mana
    • Blue's Narset's Reversal copies a ritual and returns it to hand, generating extra mana now and saving the spell for later
    • Thousand-Year Storm copies each subsequent spell in a chain - by the third ritual in a sequence you're generating absurd amounts of mana

No White or Green Means Pure Spell-Based Burst

    • Without green, you lose creature-counting mana like Gaea's Cradle and Circle of Dreams Druid - all burst comes from instants and sorceries
    • No white means no Grand Abolisher or Silence to protect combo turns - Grixis uses blue counterspells like Pact of Negation instead
    • Red's Birgi, God of Storytelling refunds one mana per spell cast, keeping storm chains mana-positive through long sequences
    • Black tutors like Demonic Tutor and Dark Petition find the exact ritual needed - Grixis has the most consistent ritual access in the format
    • Blue's High Tide doubles Island output for a turn, and combined with Frantic Search's untap, it goes mana-positive by itself
